The President will not interfere with the premiere of Lost
It’s been a long summer and fall for fans of the hit ABC show “Lost”. You’ve waited months for the premiere of the final season and then you wake up only to find out that the President of the United States may pre-empt the show with that silly State of the Union thing.

The Internet was abuzz. Nervous Lost fans were shaking in fear. Bloggers were readying themselves for writing campaigns to impeach the Commander in Chief.
Then came the all clear whistle. In the daily White House briefing, press secretary Robert Gibbs assured a restless nation on Friday that he “doesn’t foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in ‘Lost’ are pre-empted by the president.”
ABC correspondent Ann Compton is likely to get a paid vacation by her network for asking Gibbs the question that caused writers, like me, to write article after article about this silly little near miss, creating millions in free advertising for the network show.
The President typically gives the State of the Union address at the end of January, but it was announced that President Obama wanted to move the speech to February 2, the same day as the Lost premiere (another attagirl for Compton).
