The magazine Entertainment Weekly has put out a list of the worst moves in television history and they have declared The Jay Leno Show to be the biggest bomb of all time.
After Leno supposedly “retired” and handed the reigns of The Tonight Show off to Conan O’Brien, NBC came up with the idea of keeping Leno on the air, but in the 10pm time slot, a slot that is traditionally held by drama shows. The result was less than flattering.
After seven months of bad ratings, NBC decided to move the Jay Leno Show to the 11:35 pm slot, the slot that has been held by The Tonight Show for decades. This would push the Tonight Show and Conan O’Brien to the 12:05 am, which would no longer be “tonight”.
The decision to make the move did not sit well with O’Brien and his fans. After a week of blasting NBC and Leno in his opening monologues, O’Brien announced that he would not be a part of the “destruction” of the Tonight Show.
O’Brien’s last show as host of the Tonight Show is reportedly this Friday. The Jay Leno Show will disapear and Leno will retake his seat as host of the decades old late night show.
