Jay Leno Show is not canceled
Jay Leno acknowledged rumors that his show was cancelled during last night’s opening monologue.
Leno stated that he heard the rumor on the radio while driving to the studio. The comic joked that if he were canceled, then traveling would be on his agenda, “I hear FOX is nice this time of year”, he said.
While NBC has not announced plans to cancel the former late night king, reports are circulating about a move in time slots.
The New York Times announced today that The Jay Leno Show will be bumped back into late night following the Winter Olympics coverage. Also, the show will be reduced from one hour to just a 30 minute slot. The move will likely push NBC other late night shows into the wee hours of the morning.
The NBC current lineup of late night programming includes The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, The Jimmy Fallon Show, and Last Call with Carson Daly.
Speculation is growing that these moves will result in Daley’s show getting the ax.
The Jay Leno Show currently airs on NBC in the 10pm slot. NBC has not said what will be replacing Leno, but they acknowledge that they have 18 or more pilots ready to test.
