Experts Predict ‘Double Dip’ Recession

Researches from the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank are saying that there is a “significant chance” that the American economy will slide into another recession sometime in the next two years.

Many are concerned that the US could be headed for a “double-dip” recession, as many consumers are now wary of spending money and their trust in private companies has waned.

The US Central Bank is torn on whether or not they should make an offer to try and assist the economy further than they already have. The economic data that has been gathered by Travis Berge, a graduate student at the University of California, Davis, and Oscar Jorda, a professor at that same school, will be crucial in helping the Fed to make their decision.

The researchers said that their experiments yielded different results according to the different economic indicators that were used. However, they said the overall numbers gave indication that “the macroeconomic outlook is likely to deteriorate progressively starting sometime next summer.” They also said that economic policy would play an essential role in determining the outcome and “the policies that are adopted today could play a decisive role in shaping the pace of growth.”
