‘Common Sense Victory’ as Scott Brown Wins Massachusetts Senate Seat

Scott Brown has won the U.S. Senate special election in Massachusetts

The unthinkable has happened in Massachusetts.  A Republican has won the U.S. Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy for more than six decades.

Scott Brown (R) defeated Martha Coakley (D) by at least 5 percent in a special election held today in Massachusetts.

“We can’t win ‘em all,” is the message that President Obama gave to Coakley following her concession to Brown.

Earlier today, Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) stated on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that if Scott Brown wins today’s election in Massachusetts, “you can make a pretty good argument that health care might be dead.”

Scott Brown was a relatively unknown politician that rose to stardom as the man that could defeat the health care bill.

Brown promised to be the 41st opposing vote on a reconciled House-Senate health care bill.  If Coakley had won, the Democrats would keep the super majority status in Senate and the Republicans would not be able to filibuster.

“This was a common sense victory,” said Sarah Palin on Fox News immediately following Martha Coakley’s concession speech.
