Springsteen voices his political opinions often
On the heals of being awarded a Kennedy Center Honor by the President Obama, Bruce Springsteen is raising his voice on same sex marriage.
The rocker posted a message on the official BruceSpringsteen.net web site that stated, “Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I’ve been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I’ve long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine”. Springsteen went on saying he urges “those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.”
Early in his career, Springsteen said that his political views were his own and that he does not want to share them with the public. A lot has changed since then. “The Boss”, as he is known by his fans, is now one of the most outspoken musicians, often giving monologues about his views at concerts.
Springsteen, 60, has been making music with his E Street Band since the sixties. He was nominated for four Grammy Awards this year.
