Blueberry juice can save your memory
If you are having a hard time remembering things lately, try replacing that morning glass of o.j. for some blueberry juice. A recent study has shown that blueberry juice can improve your memory, even if your memory has already started to slip.
The study, conducted by the University of Cincinnati, watched the effects of blueberry juice on nine subjects in their 70s, all of whom have reported memory problems. A second group was given a different kind of juice.
Over the course of 12 weeks, researchers tested the memories of the two groups with word association, list learning, and rcall task tests. Those that drank the daily dose of blueberry juice showed significant improvement in learning and the ability to recall things.
“The study showed a significant improvement on learning and memory tests among those who drank blueberry juice . These preliminary memory findings are encouraging and suggest that consistent supplementation with blueberries may offer an approach to forestall or mitigate neurodegeneration,” said lead researcher Robert Krikorian.
The study was published in the latest issue of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
